We live on a hill in the south. It gets H.O.T. where we are! Oh, and HUMID too!! (I never knew that sultry, summer nights were a real thing until we moved here!) Have I mentioned that it gets HOT here yet?? (lol) Add solid clay and you get frustration when you try to garden...
We've tried a traditional style garden. We also built a very nice spot for a square foot garden on one of the flatest spots we have (my rabbits, chicks, and ducklings live there now...)
A rototiller has been bought. Sand, humus, and top soil has been trucked in. A lot. And then some more! Seeds have been planted. Mulch was lovingly placed to hold water right where the plants need it most. (The wheat grass tool our garden hostage that summer!! Straw is BAD as mulch no matter how many people swear by it!!) Tears were shed. The feeling of garden failure arrived and I became an excellent customer at our farmer's market!!
This year I'm trying something different and I can't wait to share it with you!!
